A one day state-level workshop on “ Android Application Development ” was organized by BCA Department of GVM’s Gopal Govind Poy Raiturcar College of Commerce and Economics, Ponda on Saturday, 17th August, 2013.

Android is most emerging area today in the world for developing mobile application. This workshop aimed to learn theory and practical approaches to basic and latest knowledge about the Mobile application development through latest mobile operating system is “Android”.

There were 42 student participants from different colleges across Goa who attended the workshop with full enthusiasm and interest.

The Expert person for this workshop was Mr. Prajyot Mainkar. He is the C.E.O at SPM Softwares & Designers and Director,Editor-in-Chief and App Consultant at Androcid Media Pvt. Ltd. He is also the Head at Goa Android User Group, Founder & Head at Goa Android User Group ( G.A.U.G), Organizer – #SSGOA at HeadStart Network Foundation, and Industry Faculty For Android at Goa University. He was already taking expert lectures on “Android” at the different colleges.

The programme was inaugurated at 9.30 am at the hands of Shri Ramrao Wagh, Associate Professor at Goa University. After the small prayer program, Principal P. M. Bhende welcomed all the dignitaries present on the dais, all the delegates and participants. Then the workshop co-ordinator, Shri Sameer Patil, shared with the participants his interest and eagerness in organizing such a workshop. Chief guest, Shri Ramrao Wagh then spoke, mainly focusing on the small introduction about the Android and the importance of keeping updated with mobile development applications through Android.

After the inaugural function, Mr. Prajyot Mainkar continued the session on:

  • Introduction to android
  • Basic building blocks of android application
  • Android user interface and setting.

After lunch, the practical session was handled by Mr. Prajyot Mainkar. He gave a hands-on practical demonstration of mobile application definition based on above topics to implement through Android.

The knowledge shared by Mr. Prajyot Mainkar was very useful to the participants and they insisted on conducting such programs in future.
